The best subcutaneous (Sub-Q) injection sites are areas with fatty tissue, typically the abdomen (2 inches from the belly button), outer thighs, back of the upper arms, or upper buttocks. These sites allow for easy, shallow, 45-to-90-degree injections. Crucially, rotate sites with each injection to prevent bruising or tissue damage.
Best Locations for Subcutaneous Injection:
Abdomen: Below the ribs but above hips, staying at least 2 inches away from the belly button.
Outer Thighs: The middle front or outer part of the thigh.
Back of Upper Arms: The fatty area, 3 inches below the shoulder and above the elbow
Upper Buttocks: The fatty area above the hip bone.
